What is the role of civic virtue in American politics, and how might the American Founding documents help inform such a vision? The best answer to this question comes from Mercy Otis Warren, a female writer of the Founding era and one of the earliest historians of the Revolutionary War. Warren's conception of memory as a powerful political tool, and her understanding of the role of freedom in human history. Join Prof. Kirstin Birkhaug (Hope College) for a discussion of Warren's writings.
