Keynote: Au Cameroun, berceau de nos ancêtres: Motherhood, Politics and History

Using the opening lines of the Cameroonian national anthem, “cradle of our ancestors,” this contribution explores how the study of motherhood and mothering can be considered simultaneously as a root motivator toward key political and historical events in Cameroon, and as an under-explored frontier in both Cameroonian Studies and in African Studies more broadly.
