Description
Historical records identify the area of southwestern Arabia as home to a thriving civilization known as Saba, equated with the kingdom of Sheba described in the Biblical texts. In the Hajar ar-Rayhani site, located in the Wadi al-Jubah of north-central Yemen, 84 stone beads were recovered. These testify to the long-distance interactions of the inhabitants of Iron Age
Sheba, itself a factor of the region's involvement in the wider trade of aromatics along Arabia's
celebrated Incense Road.
