Description
Lecture by Professor Emeritus Theodore Hamerow. This lecture will discuss the transformation of East European Jewish Community during 1870-1940. During those years the community lost much of its traditional religious character and became secularized with the emergence of a Yiddish political press and Yiddish secular literature.
