Abdullah Yavas, Real Estate and Urban Land Economics in the Wisconsin School of Business, presents "Asset Characteristics and Boom and Bust Periods." Bubbles and crashes are commonly observed in real estate and financial markets. Dr. Yavas will present the results of laboratory experiments in which he examined how three major characteristics of real estate, namely transaction costs, short selling restrictions and illiquidity, affect boom and bust cycles in asset prices.
