Description
Tarkovsky's second feature is a brutal imagining of the life of 14th century icon-painter Rublev. According to J. Hoberman, "Its greatness as moviemaking [is] immediately evident." The Cinematheque screens the 1966 masterwork in conjunction with a lecture by noted scholar Robert Bird, author of Andrei Rublev, BFI Classics.
