Description
Ford biographer Joseph McBride introduces the director's last film, about a remote mission in China staffed almost entirely by women. Still misunderstood today, 7 Women is a "mordant drama of religious fanaticism, sexual repression, and social breakdown," but it's also "one of Ford's masterpieces... the most provocative of the late films in which Ford undertakes a searching reassessment of his own cinematic mythology" (Joseph McBride, Searching for John Ford).
