Newborn Hearing Screening (NHS), performed using bedside automated devices, does not confirm the presence of hearing loss. Lisa Schimmenti, University of Minnesota Medical School, will discuss the findings of her recent research to determine whether the inclusion of genetic testing for GJB2 alleles could further identify infants at risk for hearing loss, thus allowing rapid confirmation.
