This is the second of the two lectures given by Michael Lowy, emeritus research director at the National Center for Scientific Research and lecturer at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences in Paris. He is the author of more than 200 articles and book chapters as well as numerous books. His works have been translated into 29 languages.
