Raewyn Connell is one of the leading theorists of gender relations internationally. Her book, Gender and Power, is a classic, receiving a special retrospective session at the Social Science History Association at its November meeting. As a theorist of class and education as well as gender, Connell has added important intersectional insights into the working of inequality. Long interested in the process of canon formation in sociology, Connell’s recent work engages with its global dimensions.
