Description
The NLM exhibit "Against the Odds" prominently features the Pholela Community Health Centre (PCHC) in KwaHlangani, South Africa, as a model of social medicine the world over. This lecture will discuss the far-reaching influence of the PCHC model, touch on the history of the community and explore two key PCHC programs: a successful effort to reconfigure homesteads to make them healthier and an unsuccessful anti-tuberculosis campaign.
