Description
Ang Lee served as a special consultant for this rigorous, unsentimental drama, which takes a close look at what it means to be a young Eurasian woman in contemporary Taiwan. Half-French and half-Chinese, Yang Yang feels out of place at home and in school, and after a fledgling romance backfires, she heads off to Taipei to pursue a career as an actress. Unexpectedly avoiding a downward spiral narrative, Yang Yang honestly explores the multi-faceted issues of Taiwanese identity.
