Description
Set in the harsh and beautiful Carpathian Mountains, Paradjanov's masterpiece tells the story of a doomed love between a couple belonging to feuding families, Ivan and Marichka. The deeply affecting love story merges myth, history, poetry, folklore, music and dance, and remains one of the supreme works of Soviet cinema. Presented in conjunction with the Chazen Museum of Art's exhibition Holy Image, Sacred Presence: Russian Icons 1500–1900, on display from March 12-June 5.
