Judith will discuss different approaches to promoting and maintaining motivation in college science courses, with implications for reducing performance gaps for disadvantaged students. She and her group have developed a simple intervention that helps students discover the personal relevance of course material, with
dramatic implications for performance and interest, and she will discuss how it can be implemented in science courses.
