								Aida Hussen, Department of English. Focused through a close reading of Toni Morrison’s 1992 novel “Jazz,” this paper considers the prominence and functions of revisionary origin myths in contemporary African American literature. Special attention is paid to Morrison's disruption of normative representations of gender, sexuality and desire.
