Joan Scott is the Harold F. Linder Professor of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study. She is the author of The Fantasy of Feminist History. Her other books include Gender and the Politics of History and The Politics of the Veil. This lecture is organized with the support of the European Union Center of Excellence, sponsored by the Center for Research on Gender and Women, and with the generous funding of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
