Cinematheque: Kaneto Shindo

In medieval Japan, during a time of civil war, a woman and her daughter are brutally attacked by wandering ronin. Afterwards, a series of samurai begin to turn up dead and a military officer is sent to investigate what would appear to be crimes committed by an evil spirit. “Kuroneko becomes increasingly, pleasurably difficult to predict.
