Description
Marie Jett, M.S., CCC-SLP, predoctoral fellow, Department of Surgery, Otolaryngology and a Ph.D. student in the Department of Communicative Disorders. When Henrietta Lacks' doctor at Johns Hopkins took a piece of her cervical cancer tumor in the 1950s, he established the first immortal human cells ever grown in culture. This presentation will describe the techniques used to culture and characterize primary cell lines, and highlight the utility of cell culture in voice science.
