Chaos and Complex Systems Seminar
Energy Harvesting for Mobile Electronics
Event Details
Date
Tuesday, February 14, 2012
Time
12-1 p.m.
Location
4274 Chamberlin Hall
Description
Ashley Taylor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, will discuss a radically new mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion method based on reverse electrowetting — a novel microfluidic phenomenon. Energy generation is achieved through the interaction of arrays of moving microscopic liquid droplets with a novel multilayer thin film, yielding significant advantages over existing mechanical energy harvesting technologies.
