					Description

This presentation looks into commercial signboards in colonial Seoul throughout the 1920s and 30s. Under Japanese colonialism, the city of Seoul rapidly evolved into a modern city with distinctive colonial characteristics, representing the Japanese empire in cosmopolitan ideals and marking colonial difference. This was mainly achieved by building new monumental architecture, in Western styles, onto the existing fabric of the city.
