Contemporary Literature Colloquium

Phillip Wegner, professor of English at the University of Florida and president of the U.S. Society for Utopian Studies, is a scholar of contemporary literature and culture, Marxism, spatial theory, globalization, and science fiction. Analyzing theoretical, critical, and film texts, this talk considers the cultural formation Fredric Jameson names “late modernism” — roughly 1935-48 — and considers the value of revisiting this period in our post-contemporary present.
