								Presented by Matthew Hoffman, Trainee, School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology. Vocal fold paralysis: (VFP) is a disorder caused by damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve. VFP impairs breathing, swallowing, and vocal function. A number of surgical approaches to treating VFP have been proposed, notably medialization thyroplasty and arytenoid adduction.
