Description
Presented originally in conjunction with an exhibition at the Newberry Library from the Library of Congress, the Newberry Consort presents rarely-heard music from 1860s America: popular songs, minstrel music, and country music, as well as the spectacular art music of America's first bona fide virtuosos, Louis Gottschalk and William Morris. A free pre-concert lecture by Jim Carrier entitled “The Librarian and the Banjo Player” takes place at 6:30 p.m.

Festival Pass ($75), individual concerts: $20 ($17- students and seniors over 62).
