Visiting Artist Talk

Bogotá sculptor Leyla Cárdenas works with materials as divergent as cut paper and the recovered detritus of ruined architectural sites. She uses these various means to reconfigure our perceptions about how we inhabit various spaces. Her “site responsive” process takes into account the layered histories of a particular place, and her ability to incorporate whatever remnants she finds allows for an inherently authentic interpretation of a given site's visual possibilities or potential meanings.
