David Fields holds an M.A. from the Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies Program from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in U.S. Diplomatic History at the University of Wisconsin writing a dissertation on Korean and Nicaraguan exiles in the United States and their attempts to lobby the U.S. government and American citizens for support by appealing to Americans' notions of their own exceptionalism.
