Anisotropic Thermal Conduction in Polymers and its Molecular Origins

Event Details

Date
Thursday, October 18, 2012
Time
4-5 p.m.
Description
The strong coupling of mechanical and thermal phenomena in flows of olymeric liquids has a significant impact on both the processing and final properties of the material. Simple molecular arguments suggest that Fourier’s law must be generalized to allow for nisotropic thermal conductivity in polymers subjected to deformation.
