Our group endeavors to develop and apply tools to make optical measurements on the individual molecules that endow functional materials with their desired properties. These measurements can provide new mechanistic information that can inform design of future generations of materials. Progress toward investigations of single molecular catalysts and development of tools to characterize energetic disorder in conjugated polymers will be described.
