Materials Science Program seminar

Engineering ferromagnetic correlations at manganite interfaces

Event Details

Date
Thursday, January 31, 2013
Time
4 p.m.
Description
Bruce A. Davidson, Oxide MBE Lab, Trieste, Italy. Manganite perovskites are potential materials for spintronic devices due to their intrinsic half-metallic behavior and high Curie temperature. Nevertheless, their performance in devices at room temperature has been hurt by the reduced interfacial magnetization when in contact with nonmagnetic materials, the so-called magnetic “dead layer".
