Maternal and Child Health in Haiti – Impact of the Earthquake

Care has been provided on a shoestring around Haiti, but the recent catastrophic earthquake has hindered tremendous efforts that have been made to improve the health system of the country. Here Dr. Germain will identify some of the main causes of maternal and child deaths and describe key factors regarding staffing strategies and restructuring health services needed, especially during this on-going emergency to support pregnant women facing huge difficulties accessing healthcare.
