Description
Since the fourteenth century, women in the Mithila region of Bihar, India, have practiced a distinctive traditional form of domestic wall painting. In the 1960s, some women began to make these paintings on paper to sell for income. This exhibition of more than forty paintings documents the vitality and evolution of Mithila painting since 1970.
