In this class we study how World War 2 was experienced by the men and women involved. We examine Susanna Moore's The Life of Objects, Ian McEwan's Atonement, William Wharton's A Midnight Clear, and Marge Piercy's Gone to Soldiers for their information and their merit as novels. Highly recommended background reading: Max Hasting's Inferno: The World at War, 1939-1945. Instructor: Helene Androski. Tuesdays through Nov. 26
