Description
In 1926, Harvard's Richard Pearson Strong led a team conducting a survey of the interior of Liberia. The expedition relied on the infrastructures erected by the Firestone Company to secure a rubber supply for the U.S. Firestone’s presence there is one legacy of the expedition, as is the motion picture record it left behind. This talk follows the cinematic extracts of an expedition and the lives of a film never made, as the expedition footage takes on a new life in post-civil war Liberia.
