Description
The 4-week course explores the periodic revivals or rediscoveries of traditional music in the United States from the 1930s through today. Discussions concentrate on the roles played by political ideology, economic nationalism, dissatisfaction with urban-industrialism, and rural nostalgia in fostering the desire for the revitalization of old-time and people-based musical arts.
