Description
This talk will focus on how the earliest forms of water transport can be studied even though there may be no existing samples of preserved boats. It will cover a time span of rough 0.8 million years ago to 10,000 years ago, when the earliest boats appear in the archaeological record.
Akshay Sarathi is a graduate student f Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He studies seafaring and the exploitation of marine resources in Pleistocene East Africa.
