Description
The 60-member choir performs musical settings of works by American poets under the direction of Bruce Gladstone. The program includes "Song of Democracy" by Howard Hanson, set to poetry by Walt Whitman; two movements from "Frostiana" by Randall Thompson, to poems of Robert Frost; "Harlem Songs" by Gwyneth Walker to words by Langston Hughes; and selections from "Flower Songs" by Vincent Persichetti to poetry by e. e. cummings. Traditional American folk songs and spirituals round out the program.
