Description
This lecture will start with a look at the history of industrialized housing in the former Czechoslovakia as a government response to the housing needs created in the aftermath of World War II and the transition to a planned economy. The buildings required innovative construction approaches that are often overlooked in the historical record of this period. Now decades later, socialist-era housing is one of the strongest social and cultural anchors of post-socialist cities.
