The years since 1991 have brought fascinating changes to places once on the ancient Silk Road, as countries like Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, with deep traditional and ethnic ties, have moved into a post-Soviet era, meeting challenges and stepping through doors of opportunity.

Uraneck will share reflections on women’s culture, nomadic lifestyles, Islamic heritage, and Presidential elections.
