The research of alumnus Mario Cubas, Florida International University, breaks down the popular dichotomy of allopathic medicine and alternative or traditional healing. Cubas will use the life and work of one self-identified Afro-Cuban shaman to elucidate this dynamic pluralistic healing tradition as it is emerging in Miami today.
