From pharmaceutical companies' attempts to patent traditional medicinal know-how to legal battles over place names and folk art forms, India is a forum for debates over the scope, contours and need for intellectual property law. This talk will present some of these debates and place them in the context of the academic debate in the area of law and development. Lecture given by Shubha Ghosh, UW Law School professor and associate director of INSITE, a program in the School of Business School.
