An exploration of the history of Germans in New Orleans, based on primary sources, asking where this history is convergent with, and where it is divergent from the common narrative of German-American history. The discussion will also address challenges of preservation of and access to a significant special collection that faces barriers such as condition, language and paleography, and obscurity.
