Description
Kate Brown is Professor of History at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her 2013 book, Plutopia: Nuclear Families, Atomic Cities, and the Great Soviet and American Plutonium Disasters, received the American Historical Association's prize for the best book on U.S. history. She is also the author of Dispatches from Dystopia: Histories of Places Not Yet Forgotten (2015). Her writing has appeared in Harper's, Slate and her career began at the UW-Madison, where she earned her B.A.
