Laura Mandell (Texas A&M) will discuss problems facing digital literary historians who apply methods like text mining, topic modeling, & named entity recognition to collections of texts by women, as well as the ways many such analyses propagate rather than interrogate stereotypes about women writers. Presented by the Digital Humanities Research Network, the Center for the Humanities, the Center for the History of Print & Digital Culture, Visualizing English Print, & the Middle Modernity Group.
