Visiting astronomer, Prof. Enrico Ramirez-Ruiz, from the Univ. of California-Santa Cruz will present the talk in Spanish, on Tuesday, May 31, and again in English on Thursday, June 2.
"Turning Stars into Gold," or "Transformando Estrellas en Oro," will present what astronomers know about how stars produce heavy elements, from which our world is formed. The exact processes that form very heavy elements, such as gold, are still not exactly understood, but he will explain our current theories.
