Time
8 p.m.
Location
Howard Auditorium, Fluno Center For Executive Education
Description
Professor Daniel Eisenstein from Harvard's Center for Astrophysics will give a talk aimed at the general public on recent results in cosmology. He will describe how we have been able to detect the imprint of sound waves propagating through hot gas in the early Universe using maps of the distribution of galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. He will explain what these new results tell us about the shape of the Universe and the evolution of dark energy.
