The Department of Life Sciences Communication Centennial Speaker Series presents Native American journalist Kara Briggs, who talks about reporting stories close to you, the original ones no one else can tell, even if that means finding the money and means to publish it yourself. Briggs, who is Yakama and Snohomish, once worked for the Wausau Daily Herald and is now working with the Smithsonian Institution to develop a prototype news service serving tribal news media.
