Are we currently experiencing something we might call “Anthropocene trauma”? We are apparently writing an entire epoch into being, but we also discover that we are no more significant than a sliver of a fingernail on the outstretched arm of Deep Time. We are paradoxically acting at speeds and scales that seem to outpace our own capacity to respond, while our attempts to understand the losses we are precipitating are greeted by an impossibility of knowledge....
