Description
Real-time big data streams from social networks offer exciting opportunities for disaster managers and responders to improve management strategies and make effective decisions when a natural hazard occurs. However, using traditional geospatial tools and systems is impractical, if not impossible, to handle such massive, heterogeneous, dynamic datasets, and innovative methods should be developed to detect an emerging disaster event discussed over social media.
