Staggering Losses: World War 1 & the Influenza Pandemic of 1918

Event Details

Friday, June 14, 2019
8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Ebling Library Historical Reading Room & 3rd Floor Galleries, Health Sciences Learning Center
Through photos, postcards, books, newspaper clippings, personal journals and clinical articles from Ebling's Rare Books & Special Collections, Staggering Losses conveys a narrative of medical care, casualty management, individual prowess, trench warfare realities, impactful weaponry, and a virulent virus that wreaked havoc on an ill-prepared population. My goal is to bring renewed attention to the impact of WW1 on the health care landscape and to honor millions through the mention of a handful.
