Description
The talk will focus on the horticultural practice of plant breeding and how we approach the selection of improved crops for Wisconsin farmers, gardeners, and consumers. We breed carrots, onions, and beets, though our work is similar to those breeding other crops. We do research on the traits that farmers and consumers want, and use genetics and other tools to accomplish our work. Our goal is to make new strains of crops that are better and more useful for farmers and gardeners.
