Inspired by Duke Ellington, Alice Coltrane, and Thelonious Monk, Iyer performs with a sound so elegant that it’s beyond improvisation, grounded in rhythmic traditions of South Asia and West Africa.  The Vijay Iyer Trio has been described as “the best piano trio in jazz today” ( Der Spiegel ), bonded by hundreds of performances and a dozen years of polished music-making.
